Bullying and the ugliness that follows you around for life

Notice: I am making this post in several parts as it is just too long and complicated to put it in one.

DISCLAIMER!!!!

I expect this post to make a lot of people upset. The only good news is most of them won't read much more than the first few lines if they even bother to look at this blog.
I am an expert on bullying and intimidation and the life long effects of it because I am the victim/result of at least 22 years of being bullied and intimidated (probably longer)
I have some college courses in psychology and all that academic stuff.
I have been in therapy (on and off) since I was Junior in High School (although that is arguable since I had been in therapy sessions before that although {I just said that} those were laughable by comparison).
Also I wanted to use lots of parentheses and spell check.
now on to the actual blog.

BULLYING IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO SAY INTIMIDATION

Everyone has experienced Bullying. Our society is rife with it (think an seemingly incurable disease).

Intimidation, that is what it is, is widely used to keep people in line with an idea, a law, a religious outlook, a doctrine. Intimidation is forceful persuasion and in my humble opinion never, never, never, never, never a good or beneficial thing unless you are the intimidator and then it's mostly imaginary since even that damages your psyche (soul is you must).
I say never a lot because I did not always hold with this opinion.
Like many people who have been bullied, I at several points in my life became the bully. Mostly in pathetic shameful ways and I used such esteemed texts like THE ART OF WAR by Sun Tzu (supposedly- the first part of that book is mostly justification trying to identify the sick bastard who thought it up in the first place- although I hold with the idea that the author was plural authors- a group effort), THE PRINCE by Machiavelli which is almost as bad (if you disagree ask yourself this: Where does Machiavellian Villain come from?), and the last is ironic for me,  STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert Heinlein.
The reasons of the irony would take another blog to explain. I will just explain why I have it with these two other texts. Starship Troopers is a book about intimidation. In some ways (especially to critics) it is an extended soliloquy on how to rule the world through intimidation and fear. Realizing the truth about the book made it one of my all time favorites. As I said, the book is truly ironic, RH would laugh quite a bit along with Shakespeare.
What does that have to do with Bullying? Or the "Bullyers" (new term)?
Simple, they (we) use it to justify our motivations and actions.
"You can't get anything accomplished by being nice."

How widespread is intimidation?
Sports, politics, advertising. Should I continue?
In the USA is is permeated into everything everywhere. Somehow the struggles of the downtrodden became the model for American know how and achievement. I applaud every victim of intimidation that rose above it and overcame their oppressors as long as they didn't take their places as the bullies.
You should know that is so bad when they make a video game that not only glorifies it but justifies the whole dog eat dog agenda we are stuck in:

But enough about the bullies. They don't deserve the attention.

THE LIFELONG EFFECTS OF INTIMIDATION OR BULLYING

I am going to be 45, in less than a week
I still feel the effects of the Bullying I underwent throughout my life today. I still find myself making decisions based on how I was treated by others in those situations.
They probably call it "victim mentality."

Which may or may not matter.
The important thing to understand that many kids get bullied at some point. This is true, but some are bullied relentlessly and it never ends. Can I explain this?
Yes and no.
The yes answer goes like this. Most people who get bullied either join the oppressors as soon as a weaker/easier victim appears and it is like their own humiliation and pain is transformed into the despicable energy that others once used on them. The bullied become the bullies.
Or they face down their tormentors and beat them physically.
This is the crux of all the Karate Kid movies.
Ralph Macchio beats his tormentor and gains his respect because his tormentor is just one of the aforementioned victims himself.
As idiotic as that concept is. It happens, I have seen it happen. I even walked a little ways down that dark road.

Life seldom actually ends up like this. Many kids escape notice and become invisible to the bullyers. The truly fortunate are those kids who at least appear normal from the outside and don't draw attention to the fact that they are different. As a victim, I used to think that was okay. These kids are the bystanders but they also participate in the abuse just by being present and doing nothing.

These kids sit there and watch, then they graduate to stand there and watch. They are like the proverbial pharisee who thanks God that he/she is not one of them all the while knowing that they could get involved but their own fear stops them from interfering.
Bystanderism is a damaging as the whole process. I truly believe it destroys your soul.
Then one day, the bystanders become the "egger ons" who encourage the bully on to do more, hurt more, humiliate more. They become the audience for the Bullies' ego.
I hate the audience more than I hate the bullies.
(which is hard for me to say since I once believed that I no longer hated anyone)

This was and has been life according to Mike
at least, for me, it no longer is in my life
but it remains in others,
so many, many others.
I will conclude on a video I watched today.

Gems and Diamonds in the Stuff

Just saw this gem and I have to say that these guys are gold

and another summer vid from my favorite new music group.
This is one of the reasons that Mark Hamill will always remain
one of my favorite actors.
Yep, that's another way to sell more Samsung Galaxy phones.
Hey folks, look a easy to lose phone!

What the guys at Dyson do when they're bored.

perhaps one of the most ambitious and promising Fan produced series to come out in a long, long time.
John is probably enjoying the fact that the movie they made from his book didn't bomb.
(He is a awesome blogger/vlogger)
here's a happy dance for mr. Green

 And this was Esther Earl.
This story was not based on her life, it is a work of fiction
but while she is for whom the book was dedicated, she may have been at least one of his muses.
John's POV on this

What concerns me and most likely should concern him, is that the book and movie will be seen a the model against which everything he has written and will ever write will be compared to. A death sentence.
Also, women of varying ages keep referring to this book as
"I cried throughout the entire book."
If I were John, I would scream a bit and then go out and get drunk as I saw this story as uplifting and funny
not depressing and sad.
It's about love and humor
Death is just something that happens like
going out to eat.
I hope that it doesn't haunt John, cause I thought he was awesome before I ever knew he had written this book.

Finally,

It's making a surprising comeback with new interest among 30 and 40 and 50 something adults.
Just when the world gets a little weird

cool things I found this week....yes we are singing again and yes, I forgot to publish it again

So each week, I wander around the net and facebook and several other places and some things stand out more than the others and now I wish to share the thoughtful and joyful things that I found to be cool, very cool.
note: I accidentally published this post so read on MacDuff!
I shall include two because both appeal to my inner sardonic nerd.
Who doesn't want to take a jump to the left.

After I watched this I had a very strong urge to drink and sing.
which of course leads me down to

Claudia Christian is one of my all time favorite actors and I follow her on Facebook, she is the exception to the rule where online celebrity goes. Also, she has a worthy cause and I am supporting it and her.

SOLAR FREAKING ROADWAYS,  note: I also decided to back this. I want my drive to be solar!

This is one of the videos that is both smart and slick and funny to boot. All I can say is wow in about six or seven translations.

This is one of those fairy tale videos that seems to good to be true but that it is as good as it is true. Did I say there was singing and dancing?

Self-Driving cars are the future and are awesomely cool and I want one.

This one is both awesome and mystical, amazing use of space and sound

and
that is all, so you know how I end this by this point
see you next week (although that's this week)
and that's life according to Mike.
