Sometimes there are just more important things to life than foolishness.... Fool others don't fool yourself. also don't lie to yourself. made just don't lie.
Somethings are...worth fighting for. others not so much.
Courage. Search for Courage sometime. You might just fin Malala.
You won't find this, although I suspect, Miley will have thought what she did was courageous.
Sometimes I will go with denial since if I stopped long enough to reconsider it I would just end up being depressed. So, away go!
Well I want to be and in those moments between life and madness I feel happy.
I don't usually drink beer, but when I do, I cannonball hot tubs first.
It's great when amateurs can show us something we don't usually get to experience. Well that wraps up my cool things (mostly because I need to get this down) and yes, that's life according to Mike!
So, here we are back again after another exhausting but exhilarating week and I am going to fall back on my new favorite thing to share: Cool Things. Let's get it started! 1. The video that changed Ash Wednesday (for me)
I compiled, remixed and edited this series of actual spacewalking footage for a sermon for St. John's Cathedral for Ash Wednesday. You can find the sermon here:
2. Drifting. Trikes, I had my doubts but this is cool plus awesome music make for one awesome video.
This makes me think of Sugar Ray for some reason.
3. Awesome Nerdity (if that isn't a word- it is now, say it with me "nerdity")
Every bit of my inner nerd said hell yeah in my most unnerd (another new word I will probably never use again or at least until I take up geek dating again) Pro Wrestler Stone Cold impression.
4. My boss (The Ruff) had me pull this one for him and with good reason. It's going down in my book as my all time fav Oscar acceptance/thank you speech (of which I think I have now seen 6)
in case you don't watch it - that's Matthew McConaughey and his hero speech.
5. Music I listened to this week which spoke to me.
Which is one way to put it. Too many projects going on and on.
So what have I been doing?
Well since you didn't ask (and probably won't)
1. Installing Luan over 6 and 3.5 mil plastic sheeting.
Woot! only took $135 and 2 weeks of work. 7 splinters and a
great deal of cursing.
this is not me, since I am way bigger and better looking than this.
2. Creating videos like this:
I totally took other peoples work and edited it down into something awesome. sadly it took almost as much time figuring out how to embed it in this blog.
3. Working over the Art Potry Art project. Trying to recruit artists and keep the one's I have. Take a look, I have three things up.
imagine, if you will, lying on your back, in a noxious environment, with a face mask, goggles, hat, tee shirt wrapped around your head and really rocky ground under 6 mil of plastic beneath you.
6. Got a new TV, trying to sell the old one (cheap!) and waited almost 3 weeks to mount it only to discover the mount was not compatible.
Replacing 32" Panasonic viera LCD TV.
$130! what a bargain. I even have a free, yes I said free wall mount (mostly because I have no clue where the stand is)
I bought this to replace it.
47" LG GA6400 Google TV
I spent my life saving on it.
My mother asks me why I would want a bigger TV and I said.
Well, Mom, I got a great reason and I am going to tell you them as soon as- is that a purple crested woodfinch pecking a Squirrel?
Then I left to work on a better, sounder reason why I as a 44 year old employed man needs to explain himself to his mother.
Probably, also to look what's left of my self esteem.
(* I made all that up because it sounds better than the truth).
7. (because I like 7) Then I decided to mount the TV on the wall.
and since I like to be careful, I located a mount for the LG TV made by LG which turned out to not be made for my LG TV.
A new feature. Cool stuff according to Mike. let's start with cool music:
The thing about music, is if it does make me feel something, then it really isn't music (for me) anymore, it just becomes sound or worse noise. I hate noise.
Cool video:
There are professional versions of this, but amateurs have more fun with the concept.
awesome stuff,
More Music and video:
Sometimes something comes around that gets me on both levels. The music makes me feel so good that I just sit there watching this video and I am himming and grinning like a fool.
Simonwinn is the channel and the music is wow, just makes me feel good.
What's next?
Well, let me back up to the beginning. I am checking Facebook (something I do a lot of- my mother says too much...she may be right, and For Human Peoples has posted this video.
And I start thinking about how my day is going and what I want to do with my life- starting from right here.
We can't all be happy and rich. Not yet, but I am working on it.
We can't all be successful. Hell, who says we can't. maybe it won't happen in the end, but the end is not here yet- and then I think about why.
What is it that we are missing?
The meaning of life.
Sometimes it is so simple that even when it is staring at us in the face we blink and don't see it.
the cliche goes "can't see the forest for the trees."
or can't see the bigger picture.
I say the meaning of life is living it.
We might not all get famous or rich or marry that ideal person or have ideal kids
but that does not mean that our lives have no meaning or what was the point anyway.
The poor only feel poor when someone comes over and reminds them that they don't have whatever that someone thinks they should have.
Also, that isn't ignorance. Ignorance take actively not seeing or knowing or understanding something.
That is innocence. You are happy until you believe someone who tell you that you are really unhappy.
Alright. enough with the soap box.
Well that's it for this week, I will be back next week with the top videos and music I come across.
