Messages of Hope, Messages of Love. We can make a difference even if all we have is ourselves to give

Today, I am going to say little but share a lot. What you will see are video and messages from pages that speak to me that Humanity is not all about hate or war or greed or abuse. That there are people who are trying to change the world, each in his or her own way.
Love 146.
Love146 is an international human rights organizations working to end child trafficking and exploitation.
I first came to Love146 through a activism/blogging group Upworthy earlier this year. Here is a group of people trying to combat child slavery and rape and then help the survivors regain their lives, families and humanity. The site has such hope in the face of an ugly, seemingly random destruction of families and children's lives. Take a look at their website, see what they are trying to do. Then look into your own children's eyes or one of your friend's/relative's if you don't have your own and ask yourself what can you do. Make a commitment, if you can. It doesn't have to be money. There are so many other ways to help these people and the children they represent.

Violence towards Women

UNiTE
I have long admired the work that Angelina Jolie has done for so many causes.
Anytime, she stops to  speak about the causes she supports. She is an inspiration to me.

Stop Rape Now
It's scary when you stop to consider that there appears to be a military agenda for this kind of abuse. You wonder is the world will ever reach a place where this is rare instead of the often unfortunate norm.

End violence against women

White Ribbon Day

This letter was written by NZ Childrens' Commissioner Russell Wills. Please have a read, it's directed to men but I think most if not all of it can apply to everybody that needs it.
To those it concerns,

Do your children see you get angry and shout? Have they watched you lash out at their mum? Do they cower in the corner when you enter a room? Are they frightened of you?

It doesn't have to be like this for your children. It shouldn't be like this.

When you are violent it always affects your kids. It changes their development and it changes how well they'll do in life. When they grow up they are more likely to be violent themselves, or be victims of violence. They are more likely to have major mental health problems, drug and alcohol problems and physical problems.

As a pediatrician - I've seen your kids in my clinic. Kids like the four-year-old girl with a developmental age of two. And like the little boy who wasn't learning at school; not because of ADHD (like everyone thought) but because he was terrified that when he got home mum would be hurt or dead.

Your kids still love you but they want you to change. I think you love your kids too. I think you want your kids' lives to be better than yours. I've seen dads turn their lives around because they love their kids and they love their kids' mum. You can too.

It's not too late. I'm asking you to step up and get help right now. I know this is not easy but take a positive step for the sake of your kids.

You could start by taking the White Ribbon pledge to promise to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence towards women. You could talk to someone you trust about your behaviour and ask for help. You could call the Family Violence Information Line on 0800 456 450.

Be the kind of dad your kids would love you to be. They want you to walk into a room and give them a cuddle, or play with them or talk about their day. They want to be happy to see you.

Most men in New Zealand are not violent. Become one of them.

Yours Sincerely

Dr Russell Wills

I have to say that my hat is off to New Zealand for taking such a strong stance against this travesty that has constantly perpetrated so much of our society.

One Little Pill

This is one cuase I have actively backed this year. I hope that there can be an end to this addiction. That we can believe that Alcoholics can bring this under control instead of having to rely on force of will when so many other things fail to take our fragile humanity into account.

Neil Gaiman words of encouragement
Everybody needs to know that it can get better...even if it doesn't. It's the possibilities not the certainties I believe in...

well I hope I be back with more soon.
